Here’s another update from Nigeria, where Kartlos Farms is currently in the process of building more of its ‘Envirodome’ greenhouses in Oyo State.
The Nigerian company is committed to replacing the open field tomato production with growing in protected environments, and construction of structures is in full swing in Ibadan.
The new greenhouse operations of Kartlos Farms consist of both nurseries and production houses. The seedling nursery is equipped with a cooling pad and fan system, sprinklers and a rolling bench system to space out the cell trays.
Kartlos Farms, the Nigerian Government and the Ministry of Agriculture are highly committed to investing in more similar greenhouse projects, in order to relieve the country’s open field processing tomato industry from problems related to the devastating Tuta Absoluta pest outbreak.
